How to Configure Microsoft Outlook Express
~ for Access to your OmegaNeT Hosted email account ~

Most clients will be given the following email information:

  Current Format:
Your Name:   Firstname Lastname
email Address:   Firstname.Lastname@company.com
POP3 server:   mail.company.com
SMTP server:   mail.company.com
UserID:   Firstname.Lastname@company.com
Password:   xxxxxxxxx
Domain:   CORP
Aliases:   info@company.com, ...

Follow the instructions below to configure Microsoft Outlook Express, Outlook 2002 & for optional but Recommended Outlook settings.


Outlook Express Setup Indtructions:

  1. Open Outlook Express  (if a Wizard appears, cancel out of its dialogue).
  2. Click on the "Tools" menu, and Select "Accounts..."
  3. The Internet Accounts dialogue appears, select the Mail tab:

  1. Select the Add, Mail... button or view the account Properties, starting in the General tab:

  1. Enter your name and primary email address as assigned to you (as above).
       Note: a reply address is not required.
  2. In the Properties window, select the Servers tab:

  1. Set the incoming POP3 and outgoing SMTP servers with the settings assigned to you.
  2. Enter your account name & password which is your UserID usually in the form of:
         Firstname.Lastname@company.com
  3. OmegaNeT servers require authentication in order to send your email, under Outgoing Mail Server select the check box "My server requires authentication" & Settings… button:

  1. In the Properties window, select the Connection tab:

  • either leave this blank if you have a dedicated internet connection (or if you manually dial first), or select the appropriate account to dial up to your internet service provider.  See you ISP for further dial-up support…
  1. In the Properties window, select the Advanced tab :

  • leave a copy on the server, and remove from server after 7 days (only for shared accounts or backup reasons).
  1. Select OK & Close to complete your account setup.

Note: The first time you Send or Receive a message, you may be asked to confirm your connection credentials:


Outlook 2002 Quick Setup Instructions:

  1. Open Outlook 2002.
  2. Click TOOLS, E-mail Accounts.
  3. Select Add a new e-mail account, then NEXT.
  4. Click POP3, then NEXT.
  5. Enter your name and primary email address as assigned to you (as above).
  6. Set the incoming POP3 and outgoing SMTP servers with the settings assigned to you.
  7. Enter your account name & password which is your UserID usually in the form of:
         Firstname.Lastname@company.com
  8. Click MORE SETTINGS.
  9. Click the OUTGOING SERVER tab.
  10. Select My outgoing server requires authentication.
  11. REMEMBER PASSWORD should already be selected.
  12. Move the SERVER TIMEOUTS slider to 5 MINUTES.
  13. Click OK, NEXT, then FINISH.

Optional but Recommended Outlook settings:

  • In Outlook Express, click on the "Tools" menu, and Select "Options..."
